Girl Week rocked; a great idea, beautifully executed! I'm looking forward to Girl Week 2009!
Your blog is one of the main reasons that I've gotten sucked into the blogosphere.
It's things like Girl Week that makes being a teen and being around teens so fun - tons of good ideas and the initiative to put them into motion.
Yay for YA!
LOVELOVELOVE.
so excited for next year! :)
-Liv
Beyond awesome and any other adjective my unimaginative brain can come up with. Can't wait for next year.
I loved it! There was a lot going on but you kept it very organized.
(I'm also glad it wasn't Fashion Week since I'm hoping to repeat mine and it would totally pale next to yours!)
Steph, It's Laura! Congrats on a great week! I had a ton of fun and hope to see more contests like this from you again!
PS: I want to win:)
Girl Week was awesome. Great job Steph! I can't wait until next year.
What a great week, Steph! I'm so happy that you'll be doing it again next year!
I've been jumping in on the contests all week, but here I am signing in like a civilized person. Picture me wearing white gloves and an elegant hat as I set my quill to your guest book. :-)

Although, I do believe you know what I already think about Girl Week, I thought I'd reiterate it again. It was ... A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-! You did a fantastic job! All of the interviews, guest blog entries, reviews and contests were tres, tres, tres awesome and I can't wait for Girl Week 2009! Congratulations on a great 1st year of Girl Week!
Many, many, many thanks and much, much, much love!
Girl Week was great! Next year I will participate more but love the concept. I have subscribed to your blog and will be reading it regularily. Love the contests and guest posts and interviews. Very interesting.
I have absolutely been around...reading on my phone and computer (neither of which lets me comment because tehy disagree with this new type of comment thing...) but I've been reading and stealing 5 minutes on someone else's computer to try to enter some of the contests (in between holiday stuff) because they're so great but also time sensitive
I really do hope though that I can find some time maybe after Christmas to comment on the guest blogs, etc because they have given me things to say!
So glad it's going to be annual, too because it's amazing :D (& I did post about it!!)
Seriously, this is one of the most impressive YA book blogs out there. Girl Week was great.
loved it, and am follower of your blog too! beautiful job!
Girl Week was AMAZING! You did a phneomnal job with all the interviews and guest spots! Thank you so much for doing this! And whoo-hoo!! An annual thing? Can't wait to see it all again next year!
Now go sit back relax, possibly poor yourself a drink Steph because you deserve it!!
thanks for an amazing week!! =D
loved the interviews, reviews, & contests!
Fabulous idea, Steph! I had a great time reading all of the posts and am amazed that you organized all of this while reviewing AND going to school! You're a rock star. :)
Yay, I can read you on LJ now!
:-)
Lisa
You should just make Awesome part of your name, because that's how I keep referring to you/your blog over at my blog.
Dude, seriously, thank you for the awesome (see?) week. It rocked and I'm totally looking forward to next year's Girl Week.
Trisha
Pure concentration of awesomeness! That's all I have to say.
I loved this event, it was awesome :) I loved all your guest bloggers and the different issues they addressed. I'll check out your facebook page.
Loved it, thanks!
I enjoyed Girl Week muchly. Especially as you had interviews with not only Megan McCafferty, but Lurlene McDaniel?? I've never known more about her than the little back cover blurb.
Again, loved Girl Week. Even if I don't win any contests :)
You really did do an amazing job - bravo! Thanks for all the time and thought you put into this :)
I'm going against the grain, but I don't have to know about the author/their opinions in order to like or want to read their book. In fact, I find knowing too much about an author's personal and political opinions (even if it is about feminism) distracts me from their work, making it harder to separate the book and the book's characters from the author.
This is why I stopped reading John Green's blog. Though LFA is probaby my fav YA, he puts so much of his OWN personality/language/political and thematic ramblings in his books, I'm convinced his characters aren't characters at all, but different-named versions of HIMSELF. The more I know about him the more distracting I find it.
This is true with other authors featured in the last post. I read a few interviews and essays and decided to stop -- I didn't want to muddy the waters. I want a book to stand on its own. Like I said, I know I'm in the minority. :)
Dude, 69 comments? I'm sorry to have to be the 70th. Anyway. I loved the idea, loved how well it all went. I'm so glad this will be annual! =D
Congrats!
Girl Week was phenomenal! I can't even imagine how much work it was to put together, and you did a freakin' fabulous job. It was great from beginning to end.
BTW, Anon 7:40, I can see your point, that knowing too much about the author can distract from the work. You're right--in the end, the books have to stand on their own. In the Information Age, it's up to each us to decide which information is helpful...or not. Different strokes for different folks!
Definitely loved the week! Girls Rock.

Hey! For some reason, this embedded comment form makes most people click twice before the comment is processed and published. It's not you - it's just that it's a new Blogger feature with kinks and all that. (But I adore it and don't wanna get rid of it!) I removed Captcha to make the process easier. You don't have to rewrite the comments twice; just click on SUBMIT twice and it should work. If not, email me. Thanks! -Steph
