This. The most unabashed, fuckwitted author douchebaggery I have EVER seen.Sorry for the language, but really.(Via Leila)
Wow. I already didn't like him, now I can't stand him. No offense to anyone who actually enjoys his work, but I think it sucks, so if he think he's some sort of god of "his genre" well good for him, but he is sadly mistaken.
lol, I heard about his pompous behaviour back when they were doing promotions still for The Last Song. I`m glad most authors are NOT like that.
what a fucking douchebag!!!! oh my god. i always keep the books separate from the author but now i refuse to read any of his books!!! sorry but his books are like supermarket books... you get at the grocery store. they're cliche and all the same. if he's going to be that arrogant they dont even deserve to be in the grocery store next to the frozen foods... lol. nickolas sparks, sorry but you have officially lost the respect of almost the entire book community. congratulations!!!
lmfao vicki... god of his genre he thinks? yeah god of the grocery store aisle!! lmfaoooo!!!!
Like Midnight Bloom, I read that iterview back when they were promotng The Last Song. He's a total ass and that's putting it lightly. I can honestly say I'll never pick up one of his books though I kinda can't help liking some of the movies. Oopsies. XD~Briana
That is such BS. Once or twice I've been tempted to pick up one of this books but never did. Now I never will. No author has the right to say what he said.
What a pompous ass! I refuse to read his books or see his movies. I mean how hard is it to write a book in which someone dies at the end EVERY TIME! It's predictable and downright depressing. Don't get me wrong, I do read depressing books from time to time. But does someone have to die in EVERY book/movie? My God, the world can be depressing enough! Sorry, but he's a hack who needs to climb down off the pedestal...before someone knocks him off!
Doesn't pride come before a fall? Talk about making enemies... He totally dissed his entire genre! Isn't the romance industry a multi-billion dollar machine? 'Clean up on isle 2'
WOW! I knew there was a reason I had never bought or read one of his books. Sorry to those of you that love them, but they always sounded manipulative to me!
I don't think someone dies at the end of every book, Michelle. I didn't read the whole thing, but I read the end of Dear John (I haven't seen the movie either) and it seemed like everyone was alive by the last few pages. I also read the end of The Choice and no one dies. I read the ends because I'd rather not read about someone dying so if it ends well, then I'll read the book (someday).Anyway, I think reducing his work to supermarket drivel is horrible. He may have a crappy attitude but why insult his work? I hope Anon isn't an author or aspiring author because think how you'd feel to have your work reduced to a low level just because you had a bad attitude at some point in time. I also think as readers we shouldn't be diminishing anyone's work because someone out there is a fan, and attitudes like that only increase the feelings/need to hide what we read for fear of judgment.I don't agree with what Sparks said and I think he's making a mistake saying it, but I don't think we should stoop to that level and bash his books.
Excuse me but I would be SO HAPPY if my work was reduced down to shit because my attitude was horrible. If I acted like a pompous asshole and was trashing my entire genre, what makes you think I deserve to be praised? If I was delusional enough to think that, then I would seriously hope someone would check me in a mental asylum becasue that's just fucking WRONG. NOBODY has the right to act like he does and his works should be pulled off of all bookshelves because of it. There needs to be a message spread to everyone that it's NOT OKAY to act like he does. The book industry is failing already and we'll be lucky to have ANY physical copies of books in the next 10 years and this is how he treats his book community? FUCK HIM! What a sad, sad excuse for a man. You can just tell by looking at him that he's a monster of a person.
I'm not just saying this because of the interview, but I really did think Dear John was overrated. It's the only book I've read by him but it was not that good. The writing, plot, characters, etc were all average. So I don't know why he think he's amazing, becuase he's definitely not.
Hey now -no one else does what only HE can do!
Amee, I should have phrased that differently. Of the books/movies that I have read/seen, someone always dies. It started with Message in a Bottle and Notebook, although that was a little different of a situation. But Nights in Rodanthe...I just blew my stack!!! So I have refused to read or see anymore. No Dear John, no Last Song...no Nicholas Sparks for me...sorry! Also, no one should ever hide what they read for fear of judgement based on some people expressing their opinions. There are a lot of Twilight haters out there, but I'm not afraid to shout from the rooftops that I like the series. I just got a comment on my review of Eclipse the other day accusing me of acting like it was "literature" just because I liked the book and it was my favorite so far in the series. A person can like a book even if it's not considered traditional literature. No one should ever feel ashamed of what they like to read.
I agree, Michelle, which is why I said we shouldn't bash anyone's choice of reading because it will perpetuate the need to hide what we like. There is one author that I won't touch with a ten foot pole after reading one book, but I'm not going to bash their books and tell anyone who reads them they're supermarket crap or not even literature. I would openly say I hated the book, but I wouldn't put it down as something no one should bother reading.
I feel so vindicated now in my disdain for his writing! I don't normally swear, but a few words come to mind when reading his pompous, self-righteous drivel. His quotes about his writing were almost as ridiculous as his writing!
Hey! For some reason, this embedded comment form makes most people click twice before the comment is processed and published. It's not you - it's just that it's a new Blogger feature with kinks and all that. (But I adore it and don't wanna get rid of it!) I removed Captcha to make the process easier.
