Omg!

I realize most people applicable to answer this are probably at school right now, but I'll post it nevertheless. You know, before I get buried in my schoolwork (oh and remind me to post some not-so-happy [if you like this blog] news in about two weeks)

Who takes honors/AP classes? How many?

How long is your school day?

How many subjects do you take?

How many hours to you spend on schoolwork every night?

What major do you want to do?

I only ask because, um, ... I wanna.

Okay, y'all, I'm off. Well, until Lenore releases me from MSN.

I'm a homeschooled senior, so my school day...my school day is pretty much whenever I want. Sporadic. If I focus, I can have everything done by one (if I start at about nine). No homework.

I've taken AP Eng Lang, AP Eng Lit, AP Euro, and AP US History. No honors (not like the easiest thing to do at home, though it's possible, I guess).

This year, I'm taking Calculus, Physics, Econ, and US Gov, plus music (flute and piano) and creative writing. My English credit was an Intro to Drama at the local community college.

And I'm most likely going to be studying English in college. (I <3 the school I'm attending come fall.)

And ditto Alea.

I should be at school but today was a snow day.. as many others have been.

--We take 7subjects throughout the school year. right now I'm taking biology, chemistry, English, world civilization, Spanish, geometry, practical living
--depends on the homework pile, but on average 3hours, and that's procrastinating in between.
--right now I'm looking at biology.

The only AP class I took in high school was English! :P

And I'm currently majoring in English right now. Probably not studying enough.

You must tell me the news. I won't tell anyone, girl scout's honor.

I was homeschooled using the "unschooling" or "child-led learning" method, so my day was spent learning about whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, whether out in the world or at home.

Thinking back to my high school years...

1. I've taken approximately 4-5 honors/AP classes every year for all 4 years.

2. 7:50AM - 2:26PM. That's... umm... 6.5 hours approximately?

3. Every year it was pretty much something in: math, foreign language, English, a science, music, gym, history (except for my senior year).

4. I remember being busy all the time and often not getting back home until really late. But most days I was able to sleep by 1, in addition to finding time to read for fun, write in my journal, and go online. Now, of course, I wonder how I did all that.

5. I'm currently studying to be an English & Education major.

I have 4 honors classes (they wouldn't let me take AP Bio). 8 hours. 8 Subjects. 1.5 hours of homework. I just want to do something that will let me sleep when I want to, so if I can major in that I'm good. I did want to be a psychologist until I realized that I hate school.

Who takes honors/AP classes? How many? I do! Haha. As of right now, I'm in IB Chemistry, IB Bio. But then, you know, my school is considered to be one of the best in the country and so even our regular classes are hardcore :)

How long is your school day? I have some spares now, but usually from 8-3:30.

How many subjects do you take? 6 Subjects right now. Last year, I was in 9...

How many hours to you spend on schoolwork every night? I=slacker woman. I should be spending more but I usually do everything the morning before. (Bad habits here...)

What major do you want to do? Neuroscience. <3

I want to know unhappy news...Now you've got me all curious...

Depends. Usually not more than two hours.

How many subjects do you take?
6 if you don't count yearbook: Chem, Algebra II, French III, AP, Art, English

If I don't procrastinate than about 2-4 hours

What major do you want to do?

Right now I take 2 advanced classes, which is all my school has to offer for my grade.
My school day starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m.
I take 7 subjects.
I spend an hour to two hours on schoolwork, if it is not the day before a test, then I spend about 3 hours. If it is the day before a project or essay is due, it is a lot longer, usually the whole night. I procrastinate a lot.

Who takes honors/AP classes? How many? --> I take three (would be four, but I had a scheduling conflict). You can only take four honors classes at my school - we only have them for core classes.

How long is your school day? 8 to 2:54. Six classes, 1/2 hour for lunch.

How many subjects do you take? Six -- Choir, Honors Bio, Honors Geometry, Honors American History, Spanish II, and English 10 Online

How many hours to you spend on schoolwork every night? -- I have an online class sixth hour, which is where I do all of my homework. If I had to bring it home, it'd probably take a half an hour or so, depending on what it was.

What major do you want to do? -- I want to end up double majoring in Early Childhood Education (to be a preschool teacher) and Music Education (to teach choir).

:)
hope.

All 6 of my classes are honors/AP.

How long is your school day?
from 9:00 A.M-2:25 P.M "A" Days
from 9:00 A.M.-1:54 P/M "B" Days

How many subjects do you take?

I take 6 subjects: English III AP, AP US History, French III Pre-AP, Psychics Pre-AP, Algebra II Pre-AP, and Anatomy and Physiology Pre-AP.

How many hours to you spend on schoolwork every night?

2-3. I tend to do some at school and the rest at home.

What major do you want to do?

I have no freakin' clue. I want a job that allows me to travel, lets me learn new languages and about cultures. Or I want to be a History major or a Spanish major or a French major or be a publicist. What do you need to be a publicist?

Ruth @ Bookish Ruth said...

I took AP English, AP History and AP Spanish all four years of high school. I took between 6 and 8 classes each year. Senior year I only took 6, and focused mainly on English and history. Honestly, I should have spent more time on my weaker subjects. (Physics and Geometry, I am looking at you. I didn't even try Calculus my senior year -- I had enough credits to graduate with the super easy Consumer Math so I took the easy way out. Finished half the textbook in the first week of school.)

Eight hour school day.

Two to three hours of homework per night. Junior and senior year, it was closer to four hours per night.

English major. :)

Liviania said...

1. In senior year, I took AP BC Calculus, AP English (Literature), AP Government, AP Economics, Wind Ensemble, AP Biology, Multicultural Lit, and Creative Writing. (All honors classes.) In my junior year I took AP US History and AP English (Composition). I passed all of my AP tests. I don't remember the rest of my classes, but all the academic subjects were pre-AP.

2. Marching season I was at school before school from 6:45-8:30. (Percussion only marching season, 4-8 after school TTH.) School ran from 9:00-4:00, but senior year I had early dismissal at 2:25. (We had block scheduling.)

3. Now, I am taking 5 subjects (15 hours). TTH I am in class six hours, M two, WF one. My classes are Postwar Japan (upper div), Folklore (upper div), Philosophy (honors), Creative Writing (upper div), and Jazz History.

4. Depends. I usually have about 100 pg. of reading for Postwar Japan, 30 for Creative Writing + 3 pages of my own writing, a couple of chapters for Philosopy, a couple of chapters for Jazz, and a couple of stories for Folklore. Periodically I need to write a paper (2-13 pages) for a class or study for a test. Some days I don't do any work, others I put in 3 or 4 hours.

5. I'm a double major, English and something secret.

Fun to read the answers! High school was too long ago for me to answer the questions. But I'll say this: I graduated high school at the age of 17 and graduated college at the age of 20 (human biology/pre-med major). So I guess I was a hard worker. Then I took 10+ years to get my PhD.

Ann-Kat said...

Steph, you're parenthetical statement has me worried. I love Reviewer X and "not-so-happy news" doesn't sound thrilling.

As for your questions, I'm no longer in HS, but while I was attending I did take Honors/AP courses throughout. English, Mathematics, Science, and Art/Music*.

The first two years, we had 7 classes/yr and, of those, 4-6 were Honors/AP. My final two years, the format changed and we bumped the total up to 10 classes/yr with same ratio of H/AP.

Amount of time spent on homework depended on my aptitude for the subject matter. For my Art/Science classes, it didn't take much time, but Math/Englished required additional thought. On average, 3-4 hrs per afternoon. If there was a reading assignment, longer (think 5-6 hrs).

While deciding on a major, I floundered. I flip-flopped between something to do with music, art (painting/drawing), and writing.

*Although there wasn't an honors program for music, per se, I was placed in the senior band freshman year which was akin to being placed in the honors music program.

I need to be a better proof-reader..."you're parenthetical..." should be "your parenthetical..." *sigh* it's been a long day. :)

not that many...it depends though. generally a few
i want to major in something to do with writing/English

*Heather* said...

I take all honors classes as far as my core classes go. Plus, I take a (supposed to be but not really) advanced keyboarding class. Next year I'm taking AP US History and then the year after AP Calculas and possibly AP English if I really want to be CRAZY. But that's not very likely. I'm not very good at English. I would have already been in some sort of AP math, but they aren't offered until you get past Pre-Cal.

Our school day is seven hours but for me longer. I almost always have to stay after school for a few hours for some extracurricular or another.

We have four classes in a day, but eight in the year. We have a block schedule, so we switch after a semester, except for AP classes and IB classes, which are year round.

Depending on the classes that I have paired together for the semester is how much homework I have. Currently, I spend about an hour to four hours on homework nearly every night.

In the recent year, I've kind of lost track of what I want my major to be. I wanted to major in architecture and minor in interior design, but now I'm not so sure. I was sort of thinking about journalism, or something of the sort. It'd be nice to write.

I'm curious about what you want to major in.
